World Book Day 2019

It’s that time of year when we hear whispers throughout the Library about favourite fictional characters and inventive costumes.

World Book Day is among us and we could not be more excited for its 22nd year.
Each year World Book Day aims to promote a love of reading in children and young people of all ages. This registered charity works hard to ensure every child has a book of their own.
Authors, illustrators, publishers and readers across 100 countries are involved in this event, and we are encouraging all students to participate.
This year in the Library we have chosen to immerse ourselves in all things to do with crime and detective fiction.
Walk into the BGS Library Detective Agency and find the workings of a real life investigation board. Be careful not to disturb the ‘Body in the Library’ or cross through the crime scene tape.
Practice your detective skills by completing our quiz. Collect your instructions and questions from the Library Desk. You will need a QR Code reader. There will be one dangerously chocolatey prize for one student in years 7-9 and one in years 10- Upper Sixth.
Don’t forget to join us in the Library to have your photo taken. The best costumes will win prizes. Pictures will be taken at break time and between 1.30 and 2.45pm.
You can join us in our theme, or choose any character from your favourite book. Head to the World Book Day website for some last minute ideas or ask a Librarian for some suggestions.

Don't forget to bring a £1 donation to the charity we are supporting this year which is Surfers Against Sewage.
