We have just come to the end of our
weekly Library Activity with Short’s Year 7 class and they will be missed!
The group showed great enthusiasm and
dedication to the various topics and ideas that arose from our Monday afternoon
discussions which culminated in some really impressive presentations in the
second week back after Christmas and an extremely close competition in the
closing quizzes!
In joint 3rd, Sarp and Louis showed
great team work and structure in their well-shared, prepared and scripted
presentation on different Genres and what to look out for in books that belong
to them.
They shared this spot with Emily and
Annie who created, what can only be described as ‘theatre’, on the Children’s
Laureate, yes there were wigs people! Can you guess which one of them played
these guys?
Lauren Child and Quentin Blake
In second place we had Charlie and Ollie
with their presentation on Favourite Author and/or Book which was all about
Rick Riordan and his famous saga series featuring character, Percy Jackson.
They were a font of knowledge when it came to all things World of Olympus and
gave a great Q&A session after, teaching us a thing or two about the ever
popular teen books.
Aaand…in 1st place was Lucy
and Rosie with their presentation on How We Choose What to Read Next showing us
how it’s done with a multimedia approach. They demonstrated their thoughtful
research using pie charts to show us the statistics on how people decide what
to read next in general. They gave out a poster of their own design to outline
very clearly what we can do if we are struggling to find what to read next and
they even wrote and recited a lovely poem that struck the audience with its
high standard of accomplishment! Well done everyone!
Lucy and Rosie’s very useful poster
(we
will display them around the Library soon)
On the last day, after a gruelling test
of the group’s know-how in General Knowledge, Book Trivia, BGS History Quiz, ‘Name
That Movie Soundtrack’ and ‘Name That Character and Their Book’ it was team
‘Library LARMSS’ (that’s Lucy, Anna, Rosie, Millie, Steph and Sam!) who
snatched the prize! All due respect to the rest of the class for their efforts
since there was only half a point between all the teams, it was a super close
one!
Thanks Short’s and see you back in the
Library honing all your new found skills J
