Equality Week at BGS will
feature a series of events organised by the Student Equality Committee to raise
awareness about different areas of inequality. Students can participate in a themed quiz each day and leave their answer sheets in the Library for
collection and marking. There will also be daily cake sales during break outside the PAC to
raise money for charity. All talks will take place in S28 from 2-2.45pm.
Monday -
Gender Equality: Katie Allen (from Southmead Hospital) will talk about
legislation and pay in terms of Gender Equality within Southmead hospital. Quiz
theme is feminism.
Tuesday - Animal Rights: Jasmine from the Bristol Branch of Anonymous for the Voiceless will talk about Animal Rights. Quiz theme is animal rights.
Wednesday - Ethnic Minorities: showing Hidden Figures film (S28 2-2:45pm). Quiz theme is ethnic minorities.
Thursday - LGBTQ+: Presentation from Student Equality Committee. Quiz theme is LGBTQ+
Friday - Charity: TIGER Charity will give a talk after which the organising committee
will present them with the money raised from the daily cake sales. Quiz theme
is famous advocates for Equality and what they did.We are supporting Equality Week in the Library with a display of books and quotes to get you talking and learning more about different types of inequality and discrimination.
