Only one more sleep until Harry Potter Book Night and at BGS Library,
we are really excited about this annual celebration of one of our favourite book
series! We have all the books and films
available to help you mark the occasion and our new pride and joy is the
beautifully illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. There are also plenty of events happening up
and down the country to celebrate 'The Boy Who Lived'. To find out if there are
any events taking place near you, have a look here.
This year’s theme is ‘A Night of Spells’. We've been thinking about our favourite use of spells in the series and what we’d most like to be able to do. Miss Rose’s favourite spell is Avis, which Hermione conjured up to attack Ron with a flock of birds. She would most like to be able to use Mimblewimble, the tongue-tying curse! Miss Frude liked Expecto Patronum and Glisseo (the spell for turning stairs into slides) - that would be the one she’d like to use in real life! You can vote for your favourite spell and afterwards test your Harry Potter spell knowledge with this quiz.
We’ve also been discussing the recent revelation by JK Rowling about another four wizarding schools! Miss Rose is particularly taken with the idea of the magically colour-changing gowns at Mahoutokoro and Miss Frude likes the idea of finding out that you are a witch through a dream, as the pupils of Uagadou do. There is a great article about the four wizarding schools here. Have a great Harry Potter Book Night!
