Year 7 Library Activity with Goodman's House

From fiction books to treasure hunts, World War II bunkers to chocolate Freddo's - our last Library Activity with Goodman's House was certainly an interesting one!

Our first week with Goodman’s saw an interesting discussion about fiction books take place, with a wide range of authors and books mentioned. The treasure hunt went particularly well, with all the groups showing particular skills in evaluating the websites they found. The presentations were very good and they were the best house in grasping the concept of ‘less is more’ when it comes to text on a PowerPoint slide. It was extremely difficult to choose the winners so instead of our usual top 3; we ended up with a top 5! Prizes were awarded to (in no particular order) Jacob, Ned, Anoushka, Lottie and Alysia. Mr Goodman took the photo of the winners below!

Due to the history trip being cancelled, we got an unexpected extra week with Goodman’s. We decided to put this week to good use and teach the group a bit about the history of BGS. We went on a tour on the school site and for the first time EVER, we managed to go into the Second World War bunker, which was cool in every sense of the word!

Having fortified ourselves with a drink, we then split into teams and had our very own BGS Library ‘pub quiz’, complete with Picture Round! Although Goodman’s proved they knew a fair bit, one or two of them still struggled to grasp the concept of not shouting out the answer to the question in full earshot of the other groups. However, the other teams took full advantage of this and in some cases we had full marks for the entire round! It was also good to see that everyone had been listening when Mrs Osafo spoke about her favourite author (guess who!) , Mrs Godden complained about a certain film (note to everyone: do NOT mention Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Ever) and Miss Kleiman, as usual, got very enthusiastic when talking about her favourite series of books (a bit of her still wishes Hogwarts was real…).

We loved having you Goodman’s, you were a star house.
