BGS Welcomes Were-Author, Curtis Jobling

On Wednesday 15th May, we are thrilled to be welcoming animator, illustrator and children’s author Curtis Jobling to BGS.

Perhaps best known as the designer of the BAFTA winning Bob the Builder and Frankenstein’s Cat, Jobling has worked as an animator on projects as diverse as Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! and Bristol’s own Wallace & Gromit.  Jobling’s published children’s books include Dinosaurs After Dark, Skeleton in the Closet, My Daddy, Cheeky Monkey, of course, Frankenstein’s Cat.

Jobling will be speaking to our Year 7 students about his first series of young adult books, Wereworld.  Set in the fantasy realm of Lyssia, Wereworld follows young werewolf and rightful heir to the throne of Westland, Drew Ferran, as he fights for freedom, honour and his kingdom.  In the first four books of the series, Drew encounters a slew of different were-creatures, from stags to lions and hawks to lizards.  A fifth volume follows this month, what adventures lie in store for our hero, and what new enemies lie in wait?

To read our live coverage of the event on twitter, be sure to follow us on twitter @BGSLibrarian at 14:30 on Wednesday 15th May 2013.

If you can’t wait until then for an adventure into Wereworld, read an excerpt from the first book in the series, Rise of the Wolf here.  And take a quiz to find out which werecreature you are here.
