Chris Ryan Live comes to BGS for World Book Day 2013

Bristol Grammar School will be hosting CHRIS RYAN LIVE on World Book Day, 7th March at 2pm.  A truly ground-breaking event, popular author Chris Ryan’s talk will be filmed and streamed live on the internet, a first for both BGS and Random House Publishing.

Chris Ryan served in the SAS for ten years and was awarded the Military Medal for his work under cover in Iraq. He now travels the world as a security expert, putting all his real-life experience into his books and TV shows. Ryan believes that young people, in particular boys, need positive male reading role models in their lives so in 2009 he teamed up with the National Literacy Trust to launch the competition Operation: Read to encourage more students to pick up a book.

We look forward to an exciting talk with the decorated military hero about his Agent21 series and his brand new short story written exclusively for the World Book Day app, The Wire.

The Agent21 books chronicle the missions of Zak Darke, a boy tragically orphaned by an unexplained mass murder and left alone in the world.  That is until he's sought out by a mysterious man: ‘I work for a government agency,’ the man tells him. ‘You don’t need to know which one. Not yet. All you need to know is that we’ve had our eye on you. There’s a possibility you could help us in certain . . . operational situations.’ Zak becomes Agent 21. What happened to the 20 agents before him he'll never know.

This event is an official World Book Day event and will be streamed through their website plus through the Guardian Kids Website. It will then be available on demand for a month afterwards on Chris Ryan’s website.  If you would like to take part please register here: www.chrisryanlive.co.uk and be ready to tune in at 2pm.  You can submit questions for Ryan in advance either through the registration page or by tweeting him on @exSASChrisRyan.  Join the conversation on #ChrisRyanLive.
