September always means that we have the delightful Diamond’s
house for the activity and they have certainly lived up to their name!
In the first week we looked at heroes and villains in
fiction. We had some interesting discussions on books verses film adaptations
and some great opinions on our book cover speed dating. At the end of the week
many of the pupils borrowed books.
In week two we looked at non-fiction and the Dewey Decimal
System. Libby won the Dewey Quiz and Mrs Diamond managed to unearth some sweets
from her Mary Poppins bag as a prize.
Although the treasure hunt was hindered by technical issues year 7 rose
to the challenge admirably and put in a lot of effort.

Having worked on their presentations in week three we had
the very difficult decision to choose three prize winning pairs out of all of
the excellent work that was done. In first place was Sylvie G and Libby who did
their presentation on their favourite book and author. Having chosen three
authors they managed to tell us why they loved these authors without giving any
spoilers away. In second place was Lucy and Loretta who also talked about their
favourite books. Their confident presentation impressed the librarians. In
third place there was William and Josh with a presentation on book covers and
illustrations. They had done a survey and had even created a website! Well done
to all of Diamond’s you were a pleasure to have in the library.
