We have been talking about politics a lot recently in the Library. We are all interested anyway but the extreme uncertainty surrounding the result of tomorrow's election has sparked much speculation and debate amongst staff and students. I expect to see lots of bleary-eyed people (including myself) who have stayed up late to watch the results on Friday morning! Contrary to some popularly held views, many young people that I come into contact with (in this library, at home and elsewhere) are really interested in politics and how it affects their lives.
I tend to link most things back to books and reading (librarians do that) and was really taken by a thought-provoking piece on Politics and YA fiction published yesterday on the Barrington Stoke Cracking Reading Blog.
Have a read and see what you think; I particularly agree with the author's last statement!
