We would like to thank Year 7 Edwards’students for being such a delightful group to work with during the Library activity. They produced some of the best presentations that we have seen so far this year, which made the job of judging them extremely difficult! With topics ranging from the hotly debated subject of Books vs Films to the not-so-hotly debated but very interesting presentations on The Library of Congress and The British Library, we were impressed by the level of research and presentational skills on display.
After much deliberation, we awarded Amy and Ella first place for their brilliant presentation on The Library of Congress. It contained lots of facts, images and an informative video which they found on the Library of Congress website and embedded into their presentation (showing great initiative). We were also very taken with their 'wheel of fortune' style name-picker which they used to nominate their peers to answer questions during their quiz.
In close second came Alex and Max for their informative presentation on The British Library. We very much enjoyed
our first experience of the game ‘Heads or Tails?’ which they employed during their quiz. In third place came
Elvis and Sam with their well-researched presentation on Book Covers & Illustrations. Having memorised their notes, they
gave a very confident presentation with lots of ideas and opinions that we had not heard before. All six winners enjoyed choosing a book from our amazing (if we say so
ourselves) selection of new and interesting fiction.
As is now customary, in the last session we closed the activity with our literary quiz. Between rounds, Mr. Edwards did a fantastic presentation on the history of Edwards' house complete with an assorted collection of mums, dads, uncles, brothers and
sisters of students popping up in various photos! The competition was fierce between all five teams in the quiz but in the
end, there could only be one winning team. Congratulations to ‘May
Contain Nuts’ who won by just one point.
It was lovely having you in the Library, Edwards’ and we
look forward to helping you to borrow lots of books in future!
